Japan and Kerosene

Many people do not realize it, but Japan is notoriously cheap. The majority of the homes, in Japan, use kerosene as the primary heat source. The homes do not have central heating and since kerosene is the last expensive option, it is the most popular.

The good news, is that many safety features and manufacturing improvements have come about as countries like Japan have embraced kerosene. In fact, kerosene is so popular that there are kerosene vending machines all over Japan.

One trick that the Japanese use is that they put a tea pot on the top of the heater. The tea pot can be used to generate further humidity or to simply make tea.
